Hey ya'll! First off, if you are viewing this post THANK YOU for taking the time out of your day to do so! I appreciate it so much!
Today's post is on a look I did recently on my Instagram(User name: kmchapman12). I wanted to do two fall makeup looks: one daytime appropriate, one very vampy and smoky and very dramatic. I decided that I wanted to use affordable makeup products to do both of these looks. The daytime look(which is the look in this post) I used affordable makeup that you could fine at your local drugstores(Walmart,CVS,Target,Walgreens...), and that the super dramatic look I'm going to use affordable makeup you can purchase online(Colourpop,MakeUp Geek, Morphe...). I am also going to do little mini reviews on the products I used in each post!
So now onto the details for this look!
This is the finished look above(sorry for the quality. I used the photo I posted online so this was taken with my handy, dandy iPhone).

So now onto the details for this look!
This is the finished look above(sorry for the quality. I used the photo I posted online so this was taken with my handy, dandy iPhone).
The Base:
I used two different primers for my base.
L'Oreal Magic Lumi Face Primer- I LOVE this face primer. I use it in every look that I do to give myself a natural looking glow. I love the consistency of the primer itself and the fact that a little goes a LONG way. I also love that it gives you a natural looking glow, as opposed to other illuminating primers that can tend to make you shine bright like a diamond(but not in a good way). This is a holy grail makeup product for me. The price is right and it's just amazeballs. Check it out if you haven't already!
Maybelline Master Prime Blur+Smooth Primer- This primer was kind of a miss for me. I usually use two primers always. One to illuminate and one to smooth/fill in my pores and fine lines. I honestly didn't feel like this helped in the smoothing category for me at all. I had to use a lot more than I usually would have and I honestly felt like I could've used a face lotion and gotten the same results. The price was good but, to me, this is a case of you get what you pay for.
The Face:
Maybelline Fit Me Matte+Poreless Foundation in 112 Natural Ivory- This is one of my favorite drugstore foundations. I have quite large pores on my cheeks and nose area and this smooths those away so perfectly. It isn't drying for me(which is surprising because I do have normal to dry skin) and is a medium coverage foundation. If you have issues with visible pores or you want a good matte foundation, I highly recommend this one.
Maybelline Fit Me Concealer in 10 Light- This concealer has it's goods and bads. It has a nice semi-creamy consistency so it goes on nice and blends out well. I'm super pale and they had a shade that worked well for me to conceal my blemishes. However, it did crease under my eyes, even with me setting it with a powder. So the price is right, you just might have to touch up under the eyes through out the day.
Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in 001 Transparent- This is my favorite setting powder drugstore or high end. It works well and gives me a nice matte finish and it doesn't cling to my dry spots or settle into my pores or fine lines. I also use this powder to "bake" or cook" my face to sharpen my contour and find that it works great for that. It also smells really good(I know, that's weird). Definitely another holy grail product( Shout out to Tanya Burr for using that so much in her tutorials that I finally decided to give it a try!)
Bottom Photo Products:
Nyx High Definition Blush in "Taupe"- I used this blush to contour my face with. I am super pale so this color is perfect for me. However, if you are any darker than a fair skin tone this WILL NOT work as a contour shade for you. This was nicely pigmented, very easy to blend out, and worked very well as a contour shade for me. If you are pale like I am and are looking for a nice contour shade, this blush will be your best friend.
Elf Cosmetics blush in "Gotta Glow"- I know this says it's a "blush" but this is a straight up highlight, ya'll. It's a powder consistency and is a nice light yellow/almost white shade. A lot of people say it's a dupe for Nars' Albatross blush. I can't give you an opinion on that because I've never swatched Albatross, but I will say Gotta Glow will make you GLOW! Also, it's 3 DOLLARS so I would say it's a pretty good deal.
Milani Baked Blush in "Luminoso"- This is a cult favorite blush for a lot of beauty YouTubers and Beauty Instagrams and there is good reason why. This color is so pigmented, blends well, and a little goes a long way. It's a beautiful peachy pink color with a little sheen in it to make you look like you have healthy, glowing peachy pink cheeks. Definitely can understand why this blush is so raved about! Definitely another drugstore win!
N.Y.C. Sun n'Bronze powder in "Hamptons Radiance"- This bronzer is gorgeous! It reminds me a lot of Too Faced's "Snow Bunny" Luminous Bronzer. It's not super bronzy, which I like because I am, as I have said, super pale. A lot of times bronzers tend to look muddy on me, but not this one. It gave me just a hit of bronzeness with a nice little glow to go along with it. This bronzer also comes in a few other shades so I would definitely check it out if you are looking for an affordable, luminous bronzer!
The Eyes:
I used a few different shadows and palettes to get the eye look I was going for!
The Table of Contents for Abbreviations:
C-Crease
L-Lid
O.V.-Outer V of Lid
BB-Brow Bone Highlight
I.C.H.-Inner Corner Highlight
Nyx Wicked Dreams Palette(the biggest one)- I picked this palette up from Ulta a few months ago and never got around to using it so when I was looking for affordable eye shadows to use I pulled out this palette and saw a fair few colors that would work for the look I was doing. This palette is very versatile. It has 24 colors in it and they range from the palest of colors to the darkest. It also has a nice mixture or mattes, metallics, and shimmery eye shadows in it as well. I actually really liked this palette. It has some hits and misses to it, but I find the hits outweigh the misses enough for it to be worth purchasing. I used this palette mostly for my base colors and then went in with the other two products on top to get the look I was going for. Most of the shadows are very pigmented and blend easily, a couple of the more shimmery ones are a bit patchy though so you might have to go in with Mac Fix Plus on your brush to get the full power of those colors. I used this palette in my crease for my transition shades, on my lid to set a good base for the shimmery/metallic oranges I layered on top, as my brow bone highlight, and to deepen the purple color on my outer V with.
Maybelline Expert Wear Eye shadow quad in "Sandstone Shimmer"- I used this quad to add a bit of shimmer to my eye look. It's a decent quad if you want an all shimmery eye look. The colors aren't super pigmented, but layer nicely and blend out well. I didn't see any sort of patchiness with this quad that I have with other Maybelline eye shadows. I used the colors in this quad on my lid over the base that I created with the Nyx palette, as my inner corner highlight, and to add a bit of shimmer to my outer V area.
Milani Metallic Gel Powder Eye Shadow in "Bella Copper"- This eye shadow is the star of the show in this eye look. It's what I used on the first 3/4 of my lid and let me tell you, It is METALLIC. I used a flat eye shadow brush to apply this shadow with and feel like that works best with these shadows. They are super pigmented, super metallic, and very easy to blend as well. The color is a beautiful copper color and I feel like is perfect for fall. I know this is a difficult color by Milani to find, but I picked this one up at a CVS and also noticed that when I made another run to a different CVS they also had plenty of this color. This shadow is definitely a win for me!
L'Oreal Telescopic Carbon Black Mascara- This mascara is another holy grail makeup product for me. I love how this mascara gives me tons of length to my lashes and it never clumps. It's also super black! It doesn't give any added thickness to my lashes, which is fine because I have pretty thick lashes(thanks, Dad for the good eyelash gene! Love you!). Also the wand on this mascara is super unique.(Photo credit to Allure.com). I swear by this mascara. For me, it's the best drugstore mascara there is!
N.Y.C. City Proof Eyeliner in "Mink"- This is a lovely brown/bronze colored eyeliner. It has little teeny tiny specs of bronze glitter in it, but it's not over powering at all. It has a very creamy texture and glides on easily. It doesn't last all day so you will have to touch it up a couple times, but for the price I think it's definitely worth a try.
The Lips:
Nyx Cosmetics Soft Matte Lip Cream in "Copenhagen"- Confession time: I own every single color of the Nyx's soft matte lip creams. I LOVE them. They go on like a dream, dry to a nice matte finish, aren't drying on the lips at all, and have a decent amount of staying time on the lips. The color, "Copenhagen", is a lovely plum color. It's the perfect daytime fall lip color. And like I said above, it is just amazing quality!
So all in all, I really enjoyed creating this look and most of the products used in this look! Once again, thank you for checking out my blog and don't forget to follow(if you'd want to) and comment below with some of your favorite drugstore makeup products!
